Tussen het niet-loggen door wegens te druk (naah!), wil ik toch graag even wijzen op de “nieuwste” must-have van Elbow:
In an exclusive concert for BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music, Elbow teamed up with the BBC Concert Orchestra (conducted by Mike Dixon and featuring the London choir Chantage) to perform the whole of their 2008 Mercury Award-winning album, ‘The Seldom Seen Kid.’
[...]
This very special version of ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ – committed to tape at the legendary London recording studios with the help of the BBC Concert Orchestra – was the “Red Button” TV event of 2009 and was watched by a record 1 million people, the largest audience ever for a music event on the red button.
Elbow brengt dus een nieuwe DVD/CD uit as we speak en als ik YouTube er zo op na sla, lijkt 1+1 eeh.. vrèselijk 2!

Elbow – The Loneliness of a Tower Crane Driver
Gotta get out of TV
Just pick
A point
And go
The ticker-tape tangles my feet
As I search
For a face
That I know
Come on
Tower crane driver
There’s not so
Far to go
I must have been working the ropes
When your hand
Slipped
From mine
Now I live off the mirrors and smoke
It’s a joke
A fix
A lie
Come on
Tower crane driver
There’s oh, so far
To fall
Send up a prayer in my name
Just the same
They
Say I’m on top of my game
Dwindle gentle rose…
Send up a prayer in my name
Klinkt wel leuk. Ik heb nog niets met Elbow, maar dit klinkt leuk, o.a. met het koortje en zo.
Elbow klinkt “kaal” live net zo zuiver, en is mét volledig orkest live een must-have
